کون جانے، وہ کون تھا، کیا تھا
وہ فقط صحن تک ہی آتی تھی
میں بھی حُجرے سے کم نکلتا تھا

تیری بانہوں میں بھی اکیلا تھا
جان لیوا تھیں خواہشیں ورنہ
وصل سے انتظار اچھا تھا
بات تو دل شکن ہے پر، یارو!
عقل سچی تھی، عشق جھوٹا تھا
اپنے معیار تک نہ پہنچا میں
